Nichols Arena Scoreboard Operation

Quick Guide

•    Your attention needs to be on the LCD display on the operation console.  Most of what's happening is cued on the console display.

•    The New scoreboard is a computer.  It needs to have the <enter> button pressed after number entries, like a computer needs the <enter> key to process numbers. Whenever the scoreboard console needs an <enter> button, it will flash an asterisk (*) on the top line of the LCD display.

•    Up to 6 penalties can be entered on the console for each team at a time.  The scoreboard will display 2, and will automatically move penalties up as they are cancelled/expired.  You do not need to remove penalties that have expired.

To Start

1.     turn on scoreboard console. Switch is on rear lower left.

2.     "Resume Game": hit  <clear> button for  NO.

3.     "Enter code 62": hit <enter> for yes.

4.     "1/10 Second": hit <clear> for NO.

To Set Game Time

1.     hit <Set Main Clock> button

2.     enter time one digit at a time

3.     hit <enter>

To Clear Scores: (Home or Guest)

1.     Hit <Score •>

2.     Hit 0 (zero)

3.     Hit <enter>

Enter Penalty (s): (Home or Guest)

1.     Hit <•Player•Penalty> for appropriate team, followed by <enter> button

2.     enter digits for the Player Number, followed by <enter> button

3.     enter time duration for penalty, followed by <enter> button (console defaults to 2:00 minute penalties)

4.     Repeat steps 1-3 for additional penalties, if necessary.

Clear Penalty(s): (Home or Guest)

1.     Hit <•Player•Penalty> for appropriate team, followed by <enter> button

2.     Use up or down arrow (near MENU button) to select player/penalty to clear

3.     Hit <CLEAR> <ENTER> to remove from board

4.    (Console will move automatically additional penalties to display on the scoreboard)

Tips for Operator:

1.      Know your curfew before heading over to the scoring bench.  Warm-ups are three minutes.  Don’t wait a long time to start the warm-up, the ice schedule is tight this year.

2.      Don’t sound the horn after home team goals.

3.      If you have a problem, such as leaving the clock off after play resumes, estimate the magnitude of the error and discuss with referee at the next stoppage in play.  You can get the referee to come over the scoring bench by beeping the horn and waving him over (after a stoppage in play of course

4.      Be a neutral observer.
